Houthi Missile Strikes US-Owned Cargo Ship in the Gulf of Aden

A US-owned cargo ship, the Gibraltar Eagle, was struck by a ballistic missile near the Yemeni coast, as confirmed by the United States military command for the Middle East (Centcom).

The vessel, flagged under the Marshall Islands, sustained minimal damage to a cargo hold, with no reported injuries.

The incident occurred in the Gulf of Aden, where Iranian-backed Houthi rebels have been targeting ships in objection to Israel’s conflict with Hamas.

The Eagle Bulk Shipping company, responsible for the vessel, stated that it is stable and continuing its journey. Additionally, an earlier missile aimed at a US destroyer in the Red Sea was successfully intercepted and shot down by a US fighter jet, according to Centcom.
