Kano Government Issues Stern Warning Against Illegal Sales of Public Assets

In a move to preserve public assets, the Kano State government has issued a stern warning to the chairmen of the 44 local government areas in the state. The Deputy Governor and Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Comrade Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo, delivered a strong message, cautioning against any form of illegal sale of government properties.

Recent emerging reports have raised concerns about chairmen allegedly engaging in the unauthorized sale of government assets, including farms, plots of land, shops, and residential properties. The government, through a statement by the Public Relations Officer, Ministry for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Dahiru Lawan Kofar Wambai, urged the chairmen to immediately cease such activities or face the risk of losing their seats.

Comrade Gwarzo emphasized the government’s commitment to taking decisive action against anyone found guilty of selling government properties. An intelligent team has been dispatched to various local government areas to identify and apprehend individuals involved in the illicit sale. The warning extends to land encroachers, with legal consequences outlined for those participating in the unauthorized sale or purchase of government-owned land.

Members of the public were encouraged to collaborate with the government by reporting any instances of individuals selling government properties, including farm and grazing land, government houses, market stalls, shops, and other landed properties. This collaborative effort is deemed crucial in ensuring the preservation of public assets and upholding the rule of law.

The Deputy Governor assured that the Kano State Government remains committed to transparency, accountability, and the protection of public resources. Individuals found culpable in these illicit activities will face the full force of the law. The government’s resolute stance underscores its dedication to maintaining the integrity of public assets and ensuring responsible governance.
