Senate Urges President Tinubu to Revamp Security Measures Against Bandit Attacks in t
Posted by: Ali - 06-06-2024, 09:31 PM - Forum: Politics - Replies (1)

On Thursday, the Senate called on President Bola Tinubu to revamp the security strategy in response to the ongoing bandit attacks in Nigeria's North West and North Central regions.

The Senate also recommended that Tinubu form a task force dedicated to protecting farmlands, aiming to boost food production and ensure food security. This measure, the lawmakers believe, would help address the soaring food prices affecting the nation.

These resolutions followed a motion co-sponsored by Senator Nasiru Zangon-Daura (APC, Katsina North) and ten other senators from the North West zone.

During the plenary session, Zangon-Daura expressed deep concern over the escalating insecurity in the North West. He highlighted the tragic loss of lives and the increasing number of captives due to banditry.

Zangon-Daura noted that state governments in the North West have allocated substantial funds to support security agencies in their fight against banditry and efforts to restore peace. However, he lamented that these efforts have yielded minimal results.

Federal High Court Orders Arrest of Rural Electrification Agency Officials for Skippi
Posted by: Ali - 06-06-2024, 09:27 PM - Forum: Politics - Replies (1)

On Thursday, Justice James Omotosho of the Federal High Court in Abuja issued an arrest warrant for three officials of Nigeria’s Rural Electrification Agency. Emmanuel Titus, Umar Karaye, and Henrietta Okojie were ordered to be arrested after failing to appear in court for their scheduled arraignment.

The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has charged the trio with four counts of criminal conduct related to the theft of public funds designated for providing electricity to rural communities across the nation.

During the proceedings, Osuobeni Akponimisingha, the prosecution counsel and Assistant Chief Legal Officer at the ICPC, informed the judge that the defendants had been served with copies of the charges and were aware of the court date but chose not to attend. The defendants were reportedly out on administrative bail.

Akponimisingha requested the court to issue a bench warrant for their arrests, citing Sections 114, 124, and 184 of the Administration of Criminal Justice Act. He emphasized that the defendants had deliberately avoided the proceedings "by their own volition."

Posted by: Ali - 06-06-2024, 09:22 PM - Forum: Politics - Replies (1)

On Thursday, an Enugu Magistrate Court ordered the remand of Igwe Herbert Ukuta, the traditional ruler of the Igga community in Uzo-Uwani Local Government Area, and a former community councillor for alleged murder and involvement in a terrorist group.

The monarch, who had been detained for over a month at the state criminal investigation department, was arraigned alongside four others by the Enugu State Police Command. They faced a 10-count charge before Enugu North Magistrate Court 1.

In case No. MEN/320c/2024, involving the Commissioner of Police (Kanayo Uzuegbu) and Igwe Herbert Ukuta (62); Festus Okonkwo (62); Ofadile Titus Henry (39); Sunday Ugwu (26); and Obinna Ayogu (54), the community leaders were accused of conspiracy, being members of the Indigenous People of Biafra and its security wing, the Eastern Security Network (ESN), murdering five people, including two policemen, and being part of a terrorist group.

The police stated that the alleged offences are contrary to Section 26(1) and punishable under Section 25(3) of the Terrorism (Prevention and Prohibition) Act 2022 and Section 516(A) of the Criminal Code Cap C38, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria 2004.

Nigerian Deported for Sharing NSPPD Link with Colleague
Posted by: Ali - 06-06-2024, 09:16 PM - Forum: Religion - Replies (1)

A Nigerian individual was reportedly deported for sending an NSPPD link to a Caucasian colleague. This incident was shared on X by @Morris_Monye, who detailed that the person’s Certificate of Sponsorship (CoS) was revoked, leading to their deportation.

NSPPD, or New Season Prophetic Prayers and Declarations, is an online prayer meeting led by Pastor Jerry Eze of Streams of Joy International Church.

@Morris_Monye wrote, "You sent NSPPD to your white colleague, then got your COS revoked for it and got sent back to Nigeria. Loseguard."

Reactions from Netizens:

**Aaron0806:** "NSPPD, where doctors and nurses refer patients with cancer and terminal illnesses. Many testifiers learned about it in hospitals across Europe, the UK, and America. Don't underestimate it."

**@yuteoflondon:** "Why? How does that even connect? The person should report to an employment tribunal ASAP if this is truly what transpired."

**@onyeani_o:** "This is just like being sacked for praying instead of attending to customers. Wisdom is profitable to direct. There is something called unsolicited. If it doesn’t mean a thing in Nigeria, it means something somewhere else. You can share those links on your bio, WhatsApp status, stories, pages, even in shared groups, but only if it’s a group of like-minded people. But then again, we are more religious than the religion. Afterward, they blame village people…. Those are the issues."

The reactions highlight varying opinions on the appropriateness and consequences of sharing religious content in professional settings.### Nigerian Deported for Sharing NSPPD Link with Colleague

Bride Shares Heartbreaking Story of Losing Sight Hours Before Wedding
Posted by: Ali - 06-06-2024, 09:03 PM - Forum: Family - Replies (1)

A Nigerian bride recently shared her heart-wrenching experience of going blind just hours before her wedding day.

In a viral video, the bride recounted how a wrong prescription of eye drops led to her sudden blindness on the eve of her wedding.

In her own words:

"How I lost my sight 24 hours before my wedding and got married partially blind. 36 hours before my wedding, I went to the pharmacy to get eye drops because my eyes were a bit red from the stress of preparations. I explained my situation to the pharmacist, who then prescribed an eye drop and instructed me to use it at night before bed, which I did.

"I woke up the next day blind. I couldn’t see. My pupils were dilated, and my eyes started tearing because the light was too intense. My vision was completely blurry. I could only see vague shapes but nothing more. I was entirely blind just 24 hours before my wedding.

"We went back to the pharmacy, but the pharmacist who had given me the eye drops wasn’t on shift. Due to the severity of the situation, she was called in immediately. The other pharmacist couldn't understand why I was given such eye drops.

"The eye drop is usually used for eye surgery or by an ophthalmologist to dilate the pupils for examining the optic nerve and retina. It was shocking that I was given such an extreme eye drop. When the pharmacist arrived, she was terrified. Realizing the gravity of the situation, they booked an immediate appointment with an optometrist.

"When we got to the optometrist, he examined my eyes and told me it would take a while for my sight to fully return. There was no way I would regain my vision in 24 hours, so I had to go on with my wedding in that condition. I cried so much. The devil tried, but he failed."

Man Discovers Girlfriend of Two Years Is His Biological Sister, Seeks Advice
Posted by: Ali - 06-05-2024, 08:30 PM - Forum: Celebrities - Replies (1)

A 30-year-old man has taken to social media for advice after a shocking revelation: his girlfriend of over two years is actually his biological sister. The discovery unfolded when both received invitations to their father’s funeral, leading to the heart-wrenching truth.

The man, whose identity remains undisclosed, shared his story on a Reddit forum, detailing the unexpected and distressing turn his life has taken.

The man and his girlfriend, a 24-year-old woman, met over two years ago through mutual friends. They hit it off immediately and entered a relationship a year later. Just two months ago, they moved in together and were even discussing marriage. Both were raised in the foster system—he was removed from his household at age 10, and she at age 7—which gave them a unique bond and mutual understanding.

Their seemingly perfect relationship came crashing down when the man’s biological father passed away. He and his girlfriend, now revealed to be his sister, both received invitations to the funeral. This event led to the realization that they shared the same parentage.

His Words:
“Me (30 M) and the girl (24 F) met over two years ago via mutual friends and we hit it off great. After a year, we entered a relationship and just two months ago we moved in together. We have our differences and little fights like everyone, but really, everything has been wonderful, to the point where we were discussing marriage.
Both of us were raised in the foster system. I was removed from my household when I was 10, she was around 7, so we’ve always had this in common and been able to confide in one another about this.

Recently: My biological father passed away, which meant little to nothing to me since my foster father adopted me and has been absolutely great.
However... The woman I am with also received an invitation to the funeral because it’s her dad also. She’s already packed up her things and is staying with her best friend.

> This situation is so screwed up I honestly didn’t believe things like this could happen. I’m torn... I really am. I felt like I loved this woman, I thought about our future together, and now I don’t know what the hell to do. We have crossed the line physically and when we tried to talk about it she broke down and started crying. She won’t speak to me anymore...”

This shocking discovery has left him in a state of confusion and emotional turmoil. He is seeking advice from others on how to navigate this unprecedented and distressing situation.

What would you do if you found yourself in such a situation? How would you handle discovering such a life-altering truth? Share your thoughts and advice!

Prime Messi’s Miraculous Comeback Against Paris Saint-Germain in 2013
Posted by: Ali - 06-05-2024, 08:08 PM - Forum: Sports - Replies (1)

Back in 2013, the Champions League saw an unforgettable showdown between Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) and Barcelona. The first leg in Paris ended in a 2-2 draw, setting the stage for a dramatic return leg at Camp Nou. With Lionel Messi nursing an injury, he started the match on the bench, and it seemed unlikely he would play.

As the match progressed, PSG took a 1-0 lead at Camp Nou, making Barcelona's situation dire. The late Tito Vilanova, Barcelona's coach, found himself in a tough spot with no apparent solutions. In a desperate move, he decided to bring on the legend himself, Messi, despite his injury.

Messi's impact was immediate and profound. The mere sight of him on the pitch forced the PSG players to retreat from their aggressive play. With remarkable skill and determination, Messi began to weave through the defense, eventually setting up an equalizer. His presence revitalized the team, and the Camp Nou erupted with chants of "Messi, Messi, Messi!"

Carlo Ancelotti, PSG’s coach at the time, made a memorable statement post-match:

"It is clear that the best player in the world is Messi and the second-best player in the world is the injured Messi. Everything was indicating that we would qualify tonight had it not been for his entry that changed the course of the match. You cannot say anything. This is the situation of all teams when they face Messi."

Ancelotti has also been quoted saying:

"To prepare the game for Messi is impossible. Messi is a fantastic player. If you speak to our players about the skills of Messi, the players will be afraid."

This match and Ancelotti's words highlight the fear and respect Messi instilled in even the most seasoned professionals. Prime Messi was a force of nature, capable of altering the course of any game, injured or not.

Do you think Messi's influence on the pitch is unmatched in football history? Share your thoughts!
