President Bola Tinubu has directed the Minister of Finance, Wale Edun, to come up with the cost Implications on the new minimum wage within two days.

Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, made this known while briefing State House Correspondents after a meeting the negotiation team had with the president at Aso Rock, on Tuesday.

“All parties to the negotiation of the new minimum wage would work together with the organised labour to present a new minimum wage for Nigerians in one week.

“All of us will work together assiduously within the next one week to ensure that we have a new wage for Nigeria that is acceptable sustainable and also realistic.”

Idris also disclosed that the President had given a marching order that all those who have negotiated on behalf of the Federal government and all those who are representatives of organised private sectors, the sub nationals to come together to have a new wage award that is affordable, sustainable and realistic for Nigerians.

Elon Musk's platform X, previously known as Twitter, has updated its rules to officially allow adult and graphic content.

While adult content and nudity have been present on Twitter for years, and unlike Facebook or Instagram, were never explicitly banned even before Musk’s takeover in late 2022, the new guidelines now formally permit such content.

As first reported by TechCrunch on Monday, the updated guidelines explicitly allow users to share adult content “as long as it is consensually produced and distributed adult nudity or sexual behavior.”

X's updated guidelines over the weekend stated, “sexual expression, visual or written, can be a legitimate form of artistic expression.”

A hunting trip ended in tragedy when hunter Sunday Ijiola was allegedly shot and killed by his colleague, Atanda Agbobiado, in a forest near Pakoyi, Owode Ketu, in the Yewa North Area of Ogun State.

The incident occurred on Tuesday, May 28, 2024, when about fifteen hunters ventured into the forest. The group had split up to prevent their prey from escaping.

A police source told PUNCH Metro that the deceased, aged 43, was mistaken for the deer they were pursuing.

"It was reported that a group of hunters from Owode-Apesin village, consisting of about 15 people, went to the forest for hunting and then spotted a big deer," said the officer.

Members of the Parliamentary Staff Association of Nigeria (PASAN) have ceased the supply of water to the National Assembly in adherence to the ongoing indefinite strike initiated by organized labor.

PASAN, which is affiliated with the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), temporarily suspended electricity and water supply to the structures housing the Senate and the House of Representatives, along with other facilities within the National Assembly compound.

Iluyomade, who also leads the Apapa Family of the church’s annex, was suspended following the extravagant 60th birthday celebration of his wife, Siju.

A source told Church Times that Iluyomade received his suspension letter over the weekend and has been replaced by Pastor Charles Kpandei of the Resurrection Parish Region 11.

The source added that the church's Governing Council suspended Iluyomade for three months after a panel investigated the allegations against him and the parish.

In response to the ongoing strike by organized labor, the Federal Government has invited leaders from the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and Trade Union Congress (TUC) for negotiations through the National Salaries, Wages and Income Commission.

However, it is unclear whether the labor leaders will attend the meeting.

Several unions have shut down operations in compliance with the NLC and TUC's directive to start an indefinite nationwide strike.

On Friday, organized labor announced the strike due to the Federal Government's refusal to increase the proposed minimum wage from N60,000. According to NLC President Joe Ajaero, the strike will begin at midnight on Sunday, June 2, 2024.

In a joint statement, Ajaero and TUC President Festus Osifo expressed serious concerns and disappointment over the government's failure to finalize and pass a new National Minimum Wage Act. They also demanded the government reverse the electricity tariff increase to N65/kWh.

To address the ongoing strike by organized labor, the Federal Government has invited leaders from the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and Trade Union Congress (TUC) for negotiations through the National Salaries, Wages and Income Commission.

It remains uncertain whether the labor leaders will accept the invitation.

According to popular news outlet, numerous unions have shut down
