Sepp van den Berg, who impressed with Mainz last season, has voiced his frustration with Liverpool, accusing the club of making it difficult for him to secure a permanent move away this summer. The 22-year-old is eager for regular playing time but claims that the Reds won't let him leave for a reasonable fee.
In an interview with De Telegraaf, Van den Berg shared his sentiments: "I knew that I couldn't get from PEC Zwolle [straight] to Liverpool's first team. I could have been at Liverpool for one or two more years, but I wanted to play with all my might. I demanded to be [loaned] out every time because I felt that I was getting better and better. I also made great strides physically."
Van den Berg expressed his disappointment with the lack of faith Liverpool has shown in him, saying, "You [Liverpool] didn't exude confidence in me all this time, but you do want to hinder my future. I want to keep playing every week and develop myself further."
He also emphasized how playing in Germany has been beneficial for his growth: "In Germany, I enjoy Dortmund away with 70,000 people, Bayern Munich away against Harry Kane, Stuttgart, Leipzig, Leverkusen. Against clubs like that, I am challenged every week."

Nollywood veteran, Patience Ozokwor has opened up about how people tried to impose titles on her at the beginning of her career and how she handled it.
The thespian said when she began her acting career, people tried to compare her with legendary actress, Liz Benson by tagging her as “Liz Benson of Enugu” but she rejected the tag because she believes they are both unique.
She disclosed that she also rejected suggestions to answer her husband’s first name as her surname and instead chose to bear his family name.
Ozokwor spoke in a recent interview.
“I don’t know how it started, all I know was that when I started [my acting career] and people started recognising this woman from Enugu.
“So, there was a time I came to Lagos for a shoot and people started saying, ‘That’s her, this woman from Enugu.’ They said, ‘You’re the Liz Benson’ of Enugu.’
“I said, ‘No, with all due respect, I don’t want to be like Liz Benson, I want to be myself. I am Patience Ozokwor of Enugu’,” she recalled.
She added: “And some people came and said, ‘You don’t even need to answer Patience Ozokwor again. Answer your husband’s first name Edmund; Patience Edmund.’
“I said, ‘No, because in Igbo land you’re not just married by one man, you’re married by a family. I don’t know about other tribes.
“So my husband’s people, their name is Ozokwor. When you mention Ozokwor in any part of this world, people who know the Ozokwors would say ‘I know where she comes from’.”
Popular singer Tiwa Savage recalled that when she returned to Nigeria from the United Kingdom to pursue her musical career, she was prevented from performing at concerts because her outfits were considered “too risqué.”
She revealed that some of her earlier music videos were not aired due to being deemed indecent.
The ‘Koroba’ hitmaker disclosed this in a recent interview.
Savage said, “When I first moved back, I would turn up at a show and they would say I can’t perform because my outfit was too risqué.
“It was a cultural issue. Even some of my first music videos were not played on the television because they were considered indecent. I wasn’t even wearing bikinis.
“Despite the setbacks, I was still stubborn. My dresses were getting more revealing. It was just getting worse. They were bashing me online.
“It was funny because the females were secretly falling in love with me and my style. They couldn’t deny it. My fanbase, my followers, was growing. So they had to put me on shows and play my music because there was a demand for it.”
Tiwa Salvage recently revealed the inspiration behind her newly unveiled movie, “Water & Garri”.
Salvage said she got the movie idea while she was drunk.
She stated this during the pre-launch press conference at Livespot Entertainment.
The award-winning Afrobeat superstar Tiwa Savage said, “I said this before, this is an idea I had in my head when I was drunk in my room and when I brought the idea to my amazing team, they didn’t make me feel stupid. They just said this is a brilliant idea.”
Manchester City have launched an unprecedented legal action against the Premier League in a move that has sparked civil war in English football’s top flight. Within a 165-page legal document Manchester City argue they are victims of “discrimination”, describing the Premier League's Associated Party Transaction (APT) rules they say have been approved by their rivals to stifle their success on the pitch as a “tyranny of the majority”.
The Premier League's other 19 clubs have been invited to participate in the legal action launched by Man City, and Times Sport understands between 10 and 12 have stepped forward, providing either witness statements or a letter detailing evidence in support of the Premier League's defence.
Manchester City are suing the Premier League for damages alongside their attempts to end Associated Party Transaction rules, which they claim are unlawful. City also argue the system of requiring at least 14 clubs, or two-thirds of those who vote, to implement rule changes gives the majority unacceptable levels of control.
Manchester City accuse rival Premier League clubs of “discrimination against Gulf ownership”, citing the comments of one particular senior club executive. Man City also argue sponsors linked to club owners should be allowed to determine how much they want to pay.
If City are successful in their claim — and some rival clubs fear they will be — it could enable the richest clubs to value their sponsorship deals without independent assessment for the league, vastly boosting the amount of money they can raise and therefore giving them far greater sums to spend on players.
Quote:Strike: How Aircraft Meant To Convey Nigerian Pilgrims For Hajj Returned To Saudi Empty – MURIC.
The Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC) has raised an alarm over the effect of the strike embarked upon by the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) on thousands of Nigerian pilgrims and the airlifting operation of the National Hajj Commission (NAHCON).
In a statement, on Monday, MURIC Director, Prof. Ishaq Akintola, said a plane sent to airlift pilgrims from Nigeria to Saudi Arabia was turned back by striking aviation workers.
He lamented that the aircraft was forced to return to Jedda airport in Saudi Arabia empty.
“Meanwhile, thousands of Nigerian pilgrims are now in danger while the airlift operation has already been halted. Thousands of Muslim pilgrims who have left their homes for the airports are now stranded.”
“Nigerian Muslims are now asking NLC why it had to declare a national strike at a time more than 60,000 Nigerians are being airlifted. The families of these intending pilgrims are now in a high state of fear and anxiety.
“Apart from the confusion and hardship which the ongoing NLC strike constitutes to preparations being made by Muslim faithfuls for the Id al-Kabiir festival, the lives of Muslim pilgrims are now under palpable threat. Is this not sabotage? Is this not intentional? Can a national union of NLC caliber say it is unaware of Muslim preparations for hajj and Salah?” Akintola said.
He urged the NLC to immediately call off its strike as Nigeria would not gamble with the lives of thousands of Muslims who are already in camps.
“This strike hits the most sensitive nerves in the anatomy of Nigerian Muslims. Call off the strike immediately or face the wrath of Nigerian Muslims nationwide.
“This is an emergency and it has to be handled with speed. The lives of more than 60,000 Muslim pilgrims are in danger and the Federal government must move to save them.
“In case NLC fails to heed our appeal by 8 am tomorrow Tuesday, 4th June, 2024, we call on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to declare a state of emergency. It is already clear that recalcitrance is in the DNA of the present NLC leadership.
“NLC leaders have detached themselves from the rest of Nigerians. Their demands are irrational and superfluous. Nigerians no longer trust it’s leadership. Only a state of emergency can rescue the country from the vice grip of NLC,” Akintola said.
The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) says it has no plans to revoke the licences of Unity, Polaris, and Keystone banks.
Online reports had claimed the apex bank would terminate the licences of the three banks, following the revocation of Heritage Bank’s licence.
However, in a post on its social media pages on Tuesday, the bank said the content was not authentic.
“The content is fake and not from the CBN,” the post reads
On June 4, the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) revoked the banking licence of Heritage Bank.
According to the CBN, the decision was made due to the bank’s inability to improve its financial performance.
“The Board and Management of the bank have not been able to improve the bank’s financial performance, a situation which constitutes a threat to financial stability,” the bank said.
However, the apex said Heritage Bank had not improved and “has no reasonable prospects of recovery”, thereby making revoking the licence the next necessary step.
The bank said the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation (NDIC) is as a result of this appointed as the liquidator of the bank per Section 12 (3) of the Banks and Other Financial Act (BOFIA) 2020.
The revocation, according to the apex bank, reflects its continued dedication to take all necessary steps to ensure the safety and soundness of Nigeria’s financial system.
